Cardstock

Privacy policy

Last updated October 28, 2026

Cardstock ("we", "us") provides a service that generates social share images and a link-preview checker at cardstockapi.com. This policy explains what we collect and why. Questions: team@cardstockapi.com.

What we collect

URLs you submit. When you use the checker or request a card for a URL, we fetch that public page to read its title, description, image and favicon. We do not store the page; the generated card image is cached for up to a week.

Account and billing. If you subscribe, Stripe collects your name, email, billing address and payment details. We never see or store card numbers. We keep your Stripe customer ID, email, plan and subscription status so we can issue your API key and enforce your plan.

Usage. We count the cards you generate each month. We also use your IP address briefly for rate limiting free requests; these counters expire within hours.

Logs. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard request logs (IP address, user agent, URL) for security and operations.

Cookies and tracking

We set no tracking cookies. Your browser may store your API key in local storage on this site so you stay signed in to your account page. We count page views, traffic sources (for example a referring site or a ?ref= tag in a link) and key actions such as using the checker, anonymously and in aggregate. These counters contain no IP address, cookie or personal identifier.

Who we share data with

Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting, caching, email forwarding). We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Retention and your rights

We keep account data while your subscription is active and as long as the law requires afterwards. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing team@cardstockapi.com. Deleting data may require cancelling your subscription.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, email active subscribers.
